Moriarty, Jackyn. Feeling Sorry for Celia. New York: St Martins, 2000.
Refreshingly original in the world of teenage Chick Lit, Feeling Sorry for Celia shines among its peers (for more reasons than just it’s neon pink and green cover.) When Elizabeth Clarry’s best friend Celia disappears, she finds herself at a loss. Soon though, the world of letters brings Elizabeth close to a Complete and Utter Stranger.
Loved it! No really, Feeling Sorry for Celia is more than just a typical teen angst book. It deals with issues as tough as suicide and divorce, but also sheds some humorous light on what to do in situations like having a secret admirer that writes you note on the bus, or how to get over finding out your dad isn’t who he says he is.
