Lekich, John. King of the Lost and Found. Vancouver: Raincoast Books, 2007.
Raymond J. Dunne, otherwise known as “The Swooner,” “Ray-Gun,” “Speed bump,” and his personal favourite, “Drop dead Dunne,” has issues. For starters, he is a fainter, a bleeder, and a sneezer, not to mention vertically challenged, and most of all, is seriously unpopular. When he starts his grade 10 year at Hargrave High, his expectations aren’t sent very high, but when popular basketball star Jack Alexander carries him to the nurses office after a fainting spell, his kismet is undeniably changed. After the discovery of a secret room off of the Lost and Found, Raymond and Jack unite to create a club unlike any club Hargrave High has ever seen.
Every once in a while, a true gem of a book comes along. King of the Lost and Found is a diamond of a gem. Right from the very first page, this book grabs your attention with its hilarious writing, its relationships between characters, and the absolute believability of Raymond J. Dunne. Lekich’s ability to introduce serious issues like divorce, death in the family, and financial struggles, deserves great merit as he accomplishes it with humour and warmth.
Hello, Jenn. Just wanted to thank you for your kind and articulate response to my novel, King of the Lost and Found. I particularly appreciate getting a positive response from teachers. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Take care, John Lekich

I felt exactly the same way when I read the book, and feel the same way in person form about the author John Lekich… he is a diamond of a gem.
